Light of Venus’ parent company, Dr. Vidyadhar Gopal Oke Jewellers originally started 56 years ago, in 1952, as simply a House of Pearls, in a small 2 room house in Mumbai.

The man who started this endeavour, Late Shri. Dattatray Godbole, was a B.Sc graduate from Pune University. This man had a ‘natural’ eye for sorting high quality Diamonds! He was supported in this new, challenging venture by his wife, Late Smt. Sudha Godbole.

During its initial years, the company mostly served the local market, specialising in “Pure Gold” Ornaments and Precious Pearl Ornaments, and then it moved to offering high quality Diamond Jewels.

Today, our company has a huge 3 storied showroom and office premises in a Mumbai suburb, with 2 manufacturing units, one in South Mumbai and the other in North Mumbai (at Dahisar).

Earlier, our clientele was based all over Maharashtra, but now, thanks to the internet, all over India, Europe, the U.S.A, and the rest of the Globe!

These are some of the developments that took place over the years:

1952: Dr. Vidyadhar Gopal Oke Jewellers’ original parent company, a simple ‘Pearl House’ started.

1957: Introduced ‘Pure Gold’ Ornaments.

1958: First Diamond Earrings (cluster earrings) made.

1964: Started offering premium quality, loose, natural Gemstones.

1966: Started offering exclusive jewels made using natural gemstones.

1968: Introduced 100% Silver Wares.

1973: Started offering pure Gold and Silver Bars and Coins.

1984: Started offering jewels made with Cubic Zirconia in 22ct and 18ct Gold.

1995: Started using Cadmium as a solder, in Gold ornaments.

1999: Premium Gold and Diamond Jewelry showroom launched in a Mumbai suburb.

2002: Contributed 26 highly informative articles on precious Gemstones to the leading newspaper in India, ‘Maharashtra Times’ (From May to November 2002).

2002-2003: Our director made multiple appearances on a popular Television channel, in a daytime talk show, to help and guide consumers in purchasing and maintaining Jewelry.

2008: www.lightofvenus.com, one of the world’s finest online jewelry store launched.

2009: Light of Venus became the first online store in India to provide Diamonds with G.I.A Reports, Platinum Prongs on Rings, Platinum Jewelry and ‘Make Your Own Jewels’ feature.
